GDC attendees can see the latest version of the engine in action at booth #802 during the conference in San Francisco from March 19-21
At GDC 2014, game developer and publisher Crytek announced the launch of its "Engine-as-a-Service" (EaaS) program for CRYENGINE. This means that from May this year, indie developers will be able to use all of CRYENGINE's features for a monthly subscription fee of 9,90 USD/EUR per user - royalty free. Those features include the latest CRYENGINE features such as Physically Based Shading, Geometry Cache and Image Based Lighting. The CRYENGINE free SDK will continue to be available under its current terms but developers wanting to take advantage of the new features of CRYENGINE will need to subscribe to the new EaaS-Program.
In related news, CRYENGINE now includes Linux support for the first time.
