  • Intent Media has announced they will release in the UK Mobile Entertainment, a trade magazine for the mobile content sector which will have a guaranteed and audited launch circulation in excess of 10,000. A monthly controlled circulation title, it will embrace all consumer-facing sectors, namely games, music, ringtones, video, picture messaging applications, adult, personalisation (screen savers, logos,wallpaper) and lifestyle (horoscopes, dating etc). The Mobile Entertainment editorial team will be headed by two highly respected industry journalists.Tim Green (executive editor) has written extensively about mobile and games markets as a senior analyst at Screen Digest. Stuart O'Brien (editor) has joined the magazine from Informa, where he was senior reporter of the fortnightly newsletter Mobile Games Analyst.
  • Aspyr Mediea has released a patch (v1.03a) for the Mac version of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic that adds fixes for running on eMacs with high monitor refresh rates and fixes a bug in autosaves. The update is available here.
  • We were informed that Overloaded, a company which develops mobile video games in JAVA, Symbian, BREW and I-mode technologies, has been nominated for the Rising Star Award 2004. The 'Rising Star' represents a special award within the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 competition held every year. The programme recognises and celebrates the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the Netherlands, based on percentage revenue growth over a five-year period. Technology Fast 50 winners distinguish their companies and their employees as leading examples of innovation, teamwork, perseverance, courage and vision. The Rising Star awards is based on the same criteria as the Fast 50 competition, with the difference that the companies nominated are younger than 3 years. More details can be found here.
