Just name the programme genre – and it’s a safe bet it will be on sale at this yearly spring TV programming market, spread over a five-day period.   • Aspyr Media announced that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell for the Macintosh began shipping Monday, September 27 and will be available in the US stores by October 1 (details here). They also announced that the Mac version of Tom Clancy¹s Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword has hit beta status and is expected to ship in November. This title is available for preorder here.
  • Digital Jesters started two new competitions for their upcoming games, Medieval Lords: Build, Defend, Expand and The Moment of Silence. The Medieval Lords: Build, Defend, Expand competition has the top prize of a family day out to Warwick Castle as well as many other Medieval Lords prizes. Just head over to the Medieval Lords competition page to be in for a chance to win. The second competition is for the new graphic adventure, The Moment of Silence. There are three hi-tech spy kits to win. All you need to do is head to The Moment of Silence competition page and follow the on-screen instructions to be in for a chance of winning.
  • NCsoft informed us they will organize the City of Heroes Halloween Costume Contest - the “Best Overall” winner will receive one GeForce 6800 Ultra Video Card donated by the contest sponsor, nVidia. Starting Sept. 28 and ending on midnight on Nov. 7, City of Heroes players can submit pictures of themselves in public dressed as a character from Paragon City. To enter, contestants need to provide a digital picture of themselves dress in public as their character from City of Heroes and a screen shot of their character from the game. Those who best re-create their hero in the real world best will be eligible for prizes in six different categories. Those categories are best male, best female, best gargantuan, most daring, most humorous and best overall costume. No copyrighted heroes and/or trademarked names will be accepted, also, contestants must be 13 years of age or older to participate and be legal residents of the United States.   • A new piece of lore has been released for Mutable Realms' upcoming UMMORPG Wish - "The Nature of Evil", as excerpted from "Memoirs of a Visionary", relays the experiences of a young Azik Longtooth during his people's captivity in the Nadirak realm. This tale joins an already extensive collection of Ganedan's lore in our story section.

  • Award-winning comedy star Matt Lucas (Little Britain, Shooting Stars) is to honour the year's best games at the Golden Joystick Awards 2004. Matt Lucas is most recently famous for the BBC Three and BBC One series Little Britain, based on the highly successful Radio 4 series. The awards are the industry's longest-running games honours. This year's event takes place on November 5th 2004, at the Park Lane Hilton.
  • NCsoft Europe, the newly created subsidiary of the world's biggest online games company, NCsoft Corporation today confirmed that Stephen Reid, has been appointed Content and Community Manager. Originally a computer journalist at PC Pro, Reid has focused on community development at AOL - via their games, entertainment, chat and live channels – and then at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, which he joined in 2001 as Editor in Chief of PlayStation.com. NCsoft is planning to launch Lineage II and City of Heroes in Europe by the end of 2004, with Guild Wars set to follow in 2005.
