  • THQ announced that it will be showcasing WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW on PS22 to UK WWE fans exclusively at the WWE SmackDown! Down & Dirty and WWE RAW Live & Loaded tours this October. A version of the game will be available to play at all six arenas taken in by the two WWE tours in the UK this October. The full tour programme will include Sheffield Hallam Arena (7th October), Belfast Odyssey Arena (7th & 8th October), Wembley Arena (8th October), Cardiff International Arena (10th October), Nottingham Arena (11th October) and the Manchester Evening News Arena (11th & 12th October).

  • Gizmondo Europe Ltd, subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida based Tiger Telematics Inc, announced that John Lewis, one of the UK’s top retail businesses with 26 John Lewis department stores, has agreed to launch the new, handheld Gizmondo device, games and accessories in a majority of its stores, as well as on-line. The deal promotes synergies between Gizmondo’s appealing, next generation gaming and multientertainment technologies and the strong John Lewis brand that is well-established among Gizmondo’s target audience. The Gizmondo device and its games are due for launch in the UK on October 29th and in North American markets during 2005. The new, handheld Gizmondo device, gams and accessories, will be distributed in Scandinavia by Heads of Agreement in 2005. The Gizmondo is powered by a Microsoft Windows CE.net platform, boasts a 2.8-inch TFT colour screen with a Samsung ARM9 400Mhz processor and incorporates a 64-bit graphics accelerator.   • Sony Pictures Digital announced the revival of one of the most popular video games of the 80¹s, Q-bert, as a free online game. The colorful, jumpy character beloved by millions will be available exclusively on Yahoo! Games. The downloadable version also features 50 new boards to test players¹ skillsand is available for purchase at $19.95.
  • Mythic Entertainment, developer and publisher of the massively-multiplayer online role-playing game, Dark Age of Camelot has been named to Deloitte’s prestigious Technology Fast 50 Program for Virginia, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the area by Deloitte & Touche LLP, one of the US leading professional services firms. Rankings are based on the percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues over five years, from 1999-2003.   • Oelli announced the third edition of the Electronic Game Show (EGS 2004), will be held from October 22nd to October 24th, at the World Trade Center’s Maya ballroom in Mexico City. For the first time in Latin America, all the main videogame console manufacturers under the same roof: Xbox, PS2 and GC. The first version of the EGS outside of Mexico will be Sao Paulo Brazil - it will take place from November 19th until November 21st.
