Activision has upped its full-annual earnings projections and reported second quarter earnings that bested expectations. The game publisher’s strong performance in the first half of fiscal 2001, the approaching release of the PS2 and the impending Christmas shopping season were among the group’s reasons for being optimistic. Higher net income and revenues contributed to the glowing report as well. The Santa Monica, Calif.-based firm reported net income for the quarter of 4.3 million USD, compared with 1.06 million USD in the prior annual period. Revenues rose to 144.4 million USD from 115.4 USD million in fiscal Quarter 2 2000. The publisher joined other large companies in expecting robust game sales for the PS2, despite scaled down launch numbers. (source AVault)
