Sony Computer Entertainment America sent us new screenshots from Gretzky NHL '06, the NHL game scheduled to hit stores in September (PS2) and October (PSP) - press 'read more' for descriptions of these screens. Gretzky NHL 2006 features an All-New Wayne vs. Wayne Mode which allows players to accumulate and achieve “99 Time” (where Gretzky becomes a temporary playable teammate) by executing specific actions during a game, such as playing good tough defense and sharing the puck to set up combos. Players can add him for a six-on-five offensive attack or attempt to defend against him in the same formation. To convey the confidence growth that teammates would have with Gretzky joining them on the ice, players increase by 15% visually and also get a 5% increase in attributes making them faster, smarter, harder hitting etc. Gamers can achieve "99 Time" several times throughout the 3 periods and each time a gamer activates Wayne, they will receive a letter spelling out W-A-Y-N-E. For the ultimate line-up, gamers who activate Gretzky 5 times in one game and spell out W-A-Y-N-E are then able to have five playable versions of Gretzky on the ice at the same time.
