What next? Minesweeper?
After GTA: San Andreas, one more title is subject for a fierce debate between producers and lawyer Jack Thompson. It's The Sims 2 as it seems that a simple cheat code can remove the blur from the mature parts of your lovely sims. The game is rated T and Jack Thompson states that once you remove the blur you can see the genitals and even pubic hair. How such low poly models can get visible pubic hair is beyond my comprehension. On the other hand EA said that once the blur is removed, you see sims much like the Ken and Barbie dolls, so there is no mature content in the game. As a reply, Thompson said that "The blur is an admission that even the Ken and Barbie features should not be displayed". While Thompson conclusion is that The Sims 2 is a porn game, EA is not prepared to give up and will probably defend itself in court. The worst thing here is that it seems this is the beginning of a witch hunt and we all know how bad they tend to become, as the paranoia of one person is usually spreading to the masses if media helps it. In the end, the only ones who will get hurt is us, mature players who wish to play mature games.
