EA and LEGO Interactive Ship Soccer Mania for the PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance and PC
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 2002--Lace up the cleats and head to the center circle with Soccer Mania, a wild and fast-paced arcade-style soccer video game. Co-publishers Electronic Arts and LEGO Interactive today announced that Soccer Mania has begun to ship for the Game Boy® Advance and the PC. The PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system version will be available the following week. With the World Cup underway, Soccer Mania will give young soccer fanatics the chance to create their own Cup experience... LEGO® style.
Soccer Mania's vibrant graphics and over the top, "anything goes" style of gameplay provide plenty of fun for young gamers. For instance, players can customize their own soccer team using standard players or kick up the excitement by selecting a team of Wild West cowboys, Pirates, Knights or Martians. In addition, the gameplay action goes beyond the traditional soccer locations. The PlayStation 2 console and PC matches take place in 23 unique stadiums centered around environments such as mystery islands, snowy valleys, medieval castles, pirate ships, cowboy forts and outer space. The Game Boy Advance version of the game offers 10 stadium environments.
The game features many wacky power-ups that can be useful in grabbing a victory, including Rocket Ball, Steal the Ball, Slippery Feet, Bomb Ball, Strongman and Gimme Gimme Gimme. In addition, players can choose from a variety of game modes such as the Skill Zone, which offers simple mini-games designed to sharpen basic soccer skills and the LEGO Cup Finals mode, which allows players to choose from a huge selection of LEGO characters to form a national "dream team."
The game can be played in single player mode or with up to four players for the PlayStation 2 console and Game Boy Advance, and two players on PC. Soccer Mania for the PlayStation 2 console and PC was developed by UK-based Silicon Dreams and for the Game Boy Advance by Tiertex Design Studios, also based in the UK. The Game Boy Advance and PC versions each carry an MSRP of US $29.95 and PlayStation 2 of US $39.95. Soccer Mania has an ESRB rating of "E" (Everyone).
