Gathering of Developers to Publish Delphine Software’s Darkstone Medieval 3D Action Role-Playing Game is First Game from Rockstar Games Partnership Dallas, TX, February 16, 1999 - Gathering of Developers, the developer-driven computer and videogame publisher, today announced it will publish Darkstone, a 3D medieval, action role-playing game (RPG). The Gathering licensed the game’s PC publishing rights for North America from Rockstar games, a division of Take-Two Interactive Software (NASDAQ: TTWO). Darkstone will be distributed by Jack of All Games, a subsidiary of Take Two. Delphine Software International, best known for its Moto Racers series and Fade to Black, is developing Darkstone, which will be available in the spring of 1999. Take-Two will be publishing a PlayStation version through Rockstar Games in the fall of 1999. “Darkstone impressed the The Gathering’s developer board and we are happy to have it as the first title from our new partnership with Rockstar Games,” said Mike Wilson, CEO of The Gathering. “Delphine is an outstanding developer and this title fits well into The Gathering’s line-up with its intense gameplay and cutting-edge technology.” In pure heroic fantasy tradition, Darkstone immerses gamers into a medieval world in pursuit of seven magical crystals to empower a mystical orb. Attaining this mystical object is essential to the ultimate defeat of Draak, the evil horrific dragon that is attempting to annihilate the world’s population. To reach this goal, players must resolve scenario-led quests that mix action and adventure experiences with emotion, reflection, and depth. Through 32 unique dungeons, players confront monsters and creatures, such as lizardmen, poisonous scorpions, and vampires, as well as underworld bosses like the Prince of Darkness. In Darkstone, players will simultaneously control two heroes on their gothic journey. Darkstone features four different casts, with both males and females, for a total of eight interchangeable characters. Players can also team with up to eight players to duel over the Internet or a LAN. Darkstone takes advantage of Intel’s new Pentium III chips and features seamless full 3D environments, real-time lighting and amazing particle effects.
