JoWooD announces another Highlight for 2003 Against Rome is already making waves! Press Release Rottenmann - August 6th 2002 / On the heels of a few highlights at this year's E3 in Los Angeles, JoWooD Productions now surprises experts by announcing the new RTS Against Rome. Against Rome takes players to the darkest of Europe during the age of the migration of peoples. That part of the continent which, at the time, was not controlled by the Roman Empire, served as the habitat of countless uncivilized peoples, and was called "Barbaricum" by the Romans. Players take control of one of these tribes, all of which were characterized by a lack of cultural knowledge, but all the more lust for battle. Wars against other tribes, plundering raids, pillages, and destruction were the order of the day for these Barbarians, and thus serve as the setting for this game. Using a small village as a starting point, players move through the primeval forests of Germania with their barbaric hordes to attack other settlements, always on the lookout for food, weapons and gold. These resources are used to expand a player's own settlements and especially boost his own reputation, because, after all, the object is to face the Roman army, considered invincible. Sascha Pieroth, Producer of Against Rome, is certain that they have come up with a gem. "What we are already seeing in a very early stage of development has left us longing for more, and will make German software history as another top product." Against Rome is being developed by the team Independent Arts Software, based in Westphalia. The company, founded in 1990 by Holger Kuchling, specializes in the development of PC and video games. Since the company's inception, they have developed over 30 games for various platforms, including "On the Ball" and the most recent „WarCommander“.
