GFI today released last minute details on Officers, a 3D RTS game with some RPG-elements developed by GFI UA where the player acts as a military commander. The key feature of the game is interaction between the gamer and the environment. Taking advantage of the SpeedTree technology, the developers enhanced the realism of tree models and their behavior. Three-dimensional, high-poly trees react as the living ones. Leaves are swaying, branches are shaking when e.g. missiles fly or explode near by. The story of the game is based on the general facts of the World War II. Depending on the side you choose, the game will start from the moment when your side actually began hostilities: 1939 for Germany, 1941 for Soviet Union, and 1943 for Allied forces. Officers features huge maps (25 square kilometers each), large scale battles (up to 1.500 units), and visual effects created by particle systems, multiple light sources and shaders v2.0.
