As expected (story), Freeform Interactive today announced that Signups for the Purge Closed Beta Phase 4 is now open. At least 3000 players will be accepted, but don't wait too long if you wanna test this online RPG/FPS powered by the LithTech Talon system.
PHASE 4 SIGNUP OPENS FOR 3000 PLAYERS Freeform Interactive opens the beta signups for Phase 4 of the Purge Closed Beta Test. This is an extremely intensive closed beta, currently scheduled for September 1st, 2002. We are primarily testing for bugs, multiplayer lag, and game balance. We are looking for a variety of hardware setups, ranging from our minimum spec (Pentium-3 500Mhz / 128MB System RAM / 3D Video Card with 32MB RAM) to the latest computers. Be aware, with a minimum spec computer, you will be playing Purge at the absolute lowest graphics settings. Closed beta testers are expected to provide continous feedback by participating in related discussions in the forums and promptly download weekly or bi-weekly updates to the game which can exceed 80MB. Therefore, broadband or a reliable 56k modem connection is required. Phase 4 is limited to 3000 seats. The following greatly increases the chances of being selected for the closed beta: 1. If you can host Purge dedicated servers. A dedicated Windows 98/ME/2000/XP computer is required. (The Linux server is not available, yet.) A 384+ kilobit upstream/upload is also required. (This is different than downstream/download speed.) Please visit here to check your speed. 2. Consistant participation in the Purge forums. The purpose of the beta test is to recieve useful feedback to improve Purge and remove bugs. Players who are active in the Purge community now are more likely to provide that feedback later.
