Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 Hits the Streets Gathering of Developers Releases Grand Theft Auto Mission Pack and Special Director's Cut Dallas, TX, April 29, 1999 - Grand Theft Auto fans can take to the roads again with the release of the Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 mission pack and Grand Theft Auto: Director's Cut. Developer-driven computer and video game publishing company Gathering of Developers today announced the retail release of both Grand Theft Auto PC products. The Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 mission pack features all of Grand Theft Auto’s great gameplay souped-up with groovy attitude, hip music, and tongue-in-cheek action. The Grand Theft Auto: Directors Cut includes the Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 missions and the full original version of the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto chase game, which has sold more than 1.6 million copies on PC and PlayStation worldwide. Developed by Rockstar Games, the mission pack is available for .95 and the Director's Cut retails for .95. “Grand Theft Auto sparked a great deal of interest when it was released because of its fast and furious gameplay," said Harry Miller, co-founder and president of Gathering of Developers. “We are offering Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 for those gamers that found themselves mesmerized behind the GTA wheel for hours, and the Director's Cut for gamers looking to see what all excitement has been about.” Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 focuses on one of the coolest periods in the London underworld, and parodies the cult TV and movies of the time. Get behind the wheel of tiny English three-wheelers, huge and regal limousines, E-type Jaguars, or pull the driver out from the seat of his ambulance or Aston Martin. Cruise the mean streets of London as you carry out dirty deeds in the filth of the East End and past the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, the grand Georgian houses of Chelsea, the murky Thames riverside and West End landmarks. Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 injects players into a city filled with thuggish villains, paranoid politicians, glamorous photographers, invincible secret agents, corrupt criminals, and the social problems of Britain in the 1960's. The game features more than 30 new multi-stage missions, new characters and maps, a massive garage of 30 classic cars, and an incredible 60 minute period soundtrack featuring Ska and other booty shaking music. Players start as low mob lackeys and advance in a complex criminal hierarchy while working for the British mob and running errands for crimelords such as Harold Cartwright, Jack Parkinson and the Crisp brothers. Each villain has his own distinctive banter and is based on a real character from that time period. As players progress they are drawn further into a nightmarish criminal underworld filled with theft, killing, drugs, extortion and prostitution. Gamers find themselves stealing gold reserves in small souped-up cars, kidnapping the midfield of a local football team in order to win a bet, and fencing stolen art treasures. The games require a 486 DX4/100 MHz processor, 16MB RAM, 1MB VESA-compatible video card, DOS 6.0 (or higher) or Windows 95, 80MB hard disk space and any major-brand sound card. Grand Theft Auto: London 1969 requires the full PC version of Grand Theft Auto.
