GameSpy today announced a licensing deal with Crytek to incorporate their technology into Crysis. Crytek will include tools like Comrade, an utility enabling instant messaging, friend rosters and advanced matchmaking capabilities, Sake, a tool used to store data securely online, enabling gamers to build extensive player profiles and maintain game stats and ATLAS, a technology used to create an advanced statistical system for competitions within the game and on the Crysis Web site. Under the terms of the agreement, a beta test hosted by GameSpy and FilePlanet is planned in the future. No timeframe is given for this event though. More details in the press release.
