(SCEA) today announced the signing of Philadelphia Phillies All-Star first basemen Ryan Howard as the cover athlete for MLB 08 The Show, a new baseball game in development for PS3, PS2 and PSP, and due to ship in Spring 2008. Known for his prolific power and ability to drive in runs, Howard is just the second player in Major League Baseball(TM) history to win the Rookie of the Year honors and a Most Valuable Player award in successive seasons. The Phillies first basemen joins an elite team of MLB cover athletes and spokespeople, including New York Mets third baseman David Wright, Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Oritz, Angels outfielder Vladimir Guerrero, and a host of other MLB greats.
