Most significantly, you can play with the Royal Navy, Pirate, or Procyon fleets. Your fleet can consist of up to ten ships - there are over 35 unique ships in the game (Full Version Only). You can enhance any of them with veteran crew members and special weapons. There are several different types of Multiplayer maps with unique objectives to provide even more variety. Connecting to a Multiplayer Game From the Main Menu, select Multiplayer. The next screen allows you to choose the type of multiplayer connection you will use. Internet - Choose this connection type to play over the Internet. Local Area Network - Choose this connection type if you have a local area network that supports TCP/IP. Next you will see the Select Game screen where you can create or join a game. The Select Game screen lists all of the multiplayer games that are currently available. This list displays the name of each game along with the map being played, type of game, and number of players required. Game names that are displayed in green, yellow or red text can be joined. The color indicates the speed of the machine that is hosting the game: green is very fast, yellow is average, red is slow. For best results, you should play multiplayer games against people with computers that are the same color (i.e. speed) as your own. Games displayed in gray text were created using a different version of the game and indicate that an update may be available. Games titled "Anonymous Game" were created by someone who is not in your Friends List. Joining a Multiplayer Game To join a game, select a game from the list on the Select Game screen and click Join. Creating a Multiplayer Game To create a game, click Create on the Select Game screen. This takes you to the Create Game screen where you can enter a name for your game and select the map to play. There are two types of maps: Open Maps - These maps allow you to configure your own fleets and are the best choice for players who want maximum control over their games. Historical Maps (Full Version Only) - These maps have preset fleets and are the best choice for players who want to get a multiplayer game going quickly.
