The official They Came From Hollywood site has been updated this week with a couple new ant shots and a new technical F/X of this RTS/action game currently in development at Octopus Motor. The game is scheduled for spring 2003.
They Came From Hollywood is a real-time strategy/action game in which you take on the role of a giant B-movie monster in your own cheesy B-movie. Ravage cities while fighting off the military. Eat people. Eat cars. Punch holes in buildings, knock down billboards and kick over every newspaper stand in ten blocks. Everything is destructible: buildings topple, dust rises, fires spread, cars explode, broken fire hydrants shoot streams of water, Pick up any mailbox, street lamp, light pole, and throw it -- or any unfortunate human, for that matter. Big is good, little is bad...and you're big, baby, city-threatenin' big. TCFH is currently in development here at Octopus Motor and planned for debut Fall 2002. I know...you're thinking, "yes, that's all well and good, but where are the bullet points?" So here's where we fire off a volley of bullet points all John-Woo style...mind the flying cartridges. Play as one of ten unique giant monsters Customize your monster Destroy six great U.S. cities Cities are totally destructible environments Take on worthless humans in four different time periods Utterly ridiculous backstory Okay, I'm kidding about the backstory. There's no backstory. There's no front story, either. We may have wedged a little story in there sideways somewhere, but you're not gonna be able to get it out unless you have one of those really small metric screwdrivers. We hope you enjoy the game anyhow. TCFH is being developed for the PC only. The projected minimal system requirements are: Win 95/98/ME/2000 with DirectX 7 or higher 128MB RAM Graphics card capable of 800x600 16 bit or higher Celeron 350Mhz or faster processor Sound card, mouse, CD-ROM drive, monitor, power cable, etc. Recommended for all features and highest game quality levels: 256MB RAM AGP graphics card capable of 1024x768 16 bit 700Mhz CPU or faster
