There's a massive thread on BioWare forums regarding the SecuROM copy protection scheme from Mass Effect for the PC, which apparently needs to connect via Internet for a rec-check, each 10 days. It also seems that a similar copy protection scheme will be used with the upcoming title Spore, also from Electronic Arts. Check their forums for players' opinions, though most of them seem to refuse buying such SecuROM infested games (thanks Blues).
