Ubi Soft has released a playable demo of
Scrabble 2003 Edition, allowing you to try the new version of this popular word game. The demo features 5 letters and - err - just kiddin :)
This multilanguage demo (english, french, german and dutch) lets you play 5 of the 6 game modes available in the full game, in single player mode (multiplayer is not available in this demo).

This document contains last-minute information about Scrabble® 2003 Edition Demo Version.
This README file includes information that pertains to general problems and questions you may have concerning the game or your computer.
I. INSTALLATION/UNINSTALL
=======================
Please close all programs before starting Scrabble® 2003 Edition Demo Version (especially mp3 players like Winamp).
To launch the splash screen double click on "autorun.exe" on the CD or, if the game is already installed use the "Scrabble® 2003 Edition Demo Version" shortcut in the Start Button shortcut.
INSTALL
Launch the splash screen and choose

UNINSTALL
To remove Scrabble® 2003 Edition Demo Version program from your PC, launch the splash screen and choose . This will delete all game files from your hard drive. You can also choose the "Uninstall Scrabble® 2003 Edition Demo Version" option from the start menu shortcut.

III. GENERAL GAME ISSUES

Use the mouse select items in the menus.
To change the game language - use the option on the main menu screen
In Game Controls
----------------
Use mouse and left button to drag and drop tiles
Use mouse & right button to scroll board
Use '+' and '-' on the numeric keypad to zoom in/out
Click on icons - Exchange tiles
- Clear current move / shuffle tiles
- Submit word / Pass go
- Change board view
Some icons change function if you have / have not placed any tiles on the board.
ESC - Return to main menu
To Quit Game

IV. GENERAL TECHNICAL ISSUES
============================
- DirectX 8.1 is required to run the game. Additionally, you may point your browser to Microsoft's DirectX download web site at: http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp
- If the game is slow on your computer, try to choose a low resolution as 640*480 or 400x300 and use 16 bits instead of 32 bits.
- We recommend closing all programs before starting Scrabble® 2003 Edition Demo Version.
- You must have enough free disk space available on your swap drive in order to run Scrabble® 2003 Edition Demo Version.
- Please note that Scrabble® 2003 Edition Demo Version cannot be played without a sound card.
- Please also note that the videocards Voodoo 3, Voodoo 4, Voodoo 5, Matrox G200, SiS 300, SiS 305, Intel i810 and i815 are not supported.
V. KNOWN PROBLEMS
=================
- The error message "The file OLEAUT32.DLL is out of date. This program requires a newer version" indicates that a newer version of this file is on the CD but the file cannot be overwritten as it is currently in use by Windows.
This occurs in Win '98 OS where no updates have been made. A reboot will correct.
