Terminal Reality and Gathering of Developers Announce FLY! II Dallas, TX, October 29, 1999 -- Game developer Terminal Reality and developer-driven computer and video game publishing company Gathering of Developers today announced the development of FLY! II, the sequel to the technologically-advanced general aviation simulation FLY!. FLY! II expands upon FLY!'s top features, such as the detailed cockpits, and includes more detailed scenery and expanded assistance for beginning pilots. The Gathering will publish FLY! II in late 2000 for the PC and Macintosh computers. FLY! II will feature new and expanded 3D models, aircraft and scenery. New elevation scenes and higher resolution images will be included throughout the simulation. Like its predecessor, FLY! II will feature a global flight area, worldwide digital elevation terrain model, true satellite terrain imagery, and ultra-realistic cockpit and avionics systems, detailed to each aircraft's original configuration. FLY! II will also include more points of interest, improved visual effects, dynamic environments and thorough tutorials, instructions and assistance for beginners. "With the original game, Terminal Reality worked closely with aircraft and avionics manufacturers to ensure virtual pilots the most accurate and detailed flight simulation experience," AJ Fuller, producer of FLY! and FLY! II. "For FLY! II, we are turning to the flight sim community, listening to what the players are requesting, and gathering information and 'wish list' features. As we move ahead, we consider the flight sim community to be our co-developer on FLY! II." FLY!, released in August 1999, has consistently garnered extensive third party support from fans and developers around the world. Terminal Reality is continuing the FLY! franchise with the second title and various agreements with third party developers, such as PC Aviator and its MegaScenery Pacific Northwest for FLY!. In addition, FLY! has been embraced by the flight sim community, which has created multiple Web sites with new scenery, planes and aircraft add-ons and alterations. FLY! and FLY! II use Terminal Reality's advanced Photex3 graphics engine, developed by the company's president and Nocturneä lead programmer, Mark Randel. The gaming and flight enthusiast press embraced FLY! Flight simulation journal MicroWings stated, “Real pilots and flight simulation enthusiasts will be blown away with the realism and attention to detail in FLY!” All Games Network named FLY! “Flight Sim of the Year." Apple Computer, Inc. said "FLY! provides stunning exterior scenery and extremely accurate detail in the cockpit. The only thing missing is the air sickness bag." Air & Space Smithsonian called FLY! "one of the most advanced and realistic general aviation simulations available for your PC."
