Release notes:
This patch is for the FRENCH, ENGLISH (UK), ITALIAN, GERMAN and SPANISH versions of the game ONLY.
Installing this patch on another version will cause the game to malfunction and will require you to reinstall the game!
Features:
This patch changes the way saving and loading work. You now have 2 ways of saving the game: standard, and quicksave.
Standard save:
You may now save from anywhere within the game, using the game menu (ESC), except in the following situations:
· while jumping
· if spotted by an enemy, or attacked
· while checking your inventory
· during either a real-time movie or full-motion video : while talking to other characters, during transitions between levels, etc.
When you load a standard save, your game will restart exactly from where you saved : slain enemies will be dead, solved puzzles will be solved, etc.
You may load a standard save from the main menu only.
Quiksave:
Anywhere in the game, with the same restrictions as for the standard save, you may perform a quiksave. Use F5 to do so. If you want to restore a quiksave, press F9.
As for the standard save, your game will be exactly restored: position, status, inventory, everything.
Quiksaves do not write anything on your hard drive.
So, it is very fast to do a quiksave/quikload, and you may try to restart a specific situation quickly and with no hassle. On the other hand, the information that's stored in a quiksave will be lost if :
· you change levels,
· you quit the game.
So, before leaving the game, do a standard save instead to record your progress.
Restart:
You may have noticed a restart function in the main menu. It is used to restart the level from a specific point anytime in the game.
It is especially useful if you save in a dangerous situation (i.e. a horde of guards is just around the corner and you haven't found a good place to hide, things like that).
The restart point will always be where you arrive in the level :
· If you changed levels in your current game session (for instance, you are now in level 2-2, but were in level 2-1 before), this restart point will be the beginning of the level, which is always a safe zone.
· If you loaded a game from the main menu, the restart point will be the place you appear when you load the game. Subsequent "restarts" will make you reappear in that position, as if you just reloaded your game.
Note that, if you die, you will also restart the game from the very same place. So, before you save and quit, be sure you do that in a somehow safe zone!
Old saved games:
Saved games that were made with the early version of Inquisition are unfortunately no longer compatible with the patched game.
Known problems:
If you save your game while in alert mode, which you shouldn't want to do, your saved game can be corrupted. Generally, we recommend you save your game away from guards.
Saving (and loading) take a few fractions of seconds, during which the game continues to run. It is long enough for an enemy to turn his head and spot you... so you may save a game in which, everytime you reload, you are immediately spotted.
