Infogrames has released several new screenshots of Dungeons & Dragons Heroes, showcasing this upcoming multiplayer co-op RPG. Dungeons & Dragons Heroes will be released on PS2, Xbox and GameCube in June.
Hearing rumors of great portals leading to powerful planar gems, eager adventurers have come to the Castle Baele in search of fame and fortune... only to find Baele's Castle destroyed. High above its ruins, a new and mysterious castle floats, as if magically suspended in the sky... It is into this uncertain world that the players are thrust. Once great heroes of Baele, they are awakened from death's slumber – by whom and for what reason, they do not know. They must regain their legendary strength and incredible powers, discover their course and, at last, seek out and destroy the dark and sinister magicks of castle high above... a castle whose keeper threatens all existence. Traveling through Baele's mystical portals, the heroes discover worlds they had never before dreamed – worlds of frost-plagued lands with crystalline peaks, where the living are the dead, slithering creatures keep their magicks safe in suspended trees, and a reclusive beast harnesses the powers of a colossal and arcane forge. This tale of deliverance takes our heroes through countless challenges, pitting them against devious foes and deadly traps as they inch ever closer to understanding their past, even as it races to confront them once again. With weapon in hand, take up the challenge and be Baele's hero once again! Anticipated features for the game include the ability to play as one of four distinct hero characters drawn from the main Dungeons & Dragons character classes of Fighter, Wizard, Cleric and Rogue, each with 40-plus combat moves and special abilities unique to their character; authentic D&D Monsters, many drawn directly from the third edition of Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual; a Skills, Feats and Character Building system inspired by the third edition of the Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook; interactive levels spanning multiple environments ranging from a working forge to a magically suspended castle in the sky; and visually stunning spell and magical effects with weapon and magical upgrades appearing on the in-game characters.
