Italian developer Zetha gameZ has released a new movie of DroneZ, showcasing this upcoming futuristic platform shooter. The movie is "an exact capture of the realtime DroneZmarK", and is available in 3 versions: low res (26 MB), normal res (41 MB), and high res (66 MB).
Story: In a near future, neglect and pollution made nature hostile: people live immersed in feedback units, connected to the V-Space network while their physical needs are handled by droning cyber-insects. V-Space is dominated by Artificial Intelligences (AI's) who forbid people to disconnect. With the help of Doku (a young hacker who lives in the "real world") the player must move on network memory locations (represented as circular platforms) and defeat the enemy protections by fighting against computer programs that are perceived as different kinds of beings. The player will go through different tasks in environments and against enemies that change the tactics a lot, to eventually meet the final mega-brain and free mankind from the grip of the AI. In a scenery with no good and no bad, the only thing that counts is the control over ZNRG, the peculiar dataform that allows the DroneZ to make bullets out of nothing and throw energy bolts ricocheting in the V-Space, to generate energy shields that protect them against enemy-attack and to activate complex attack and defense systems. And there you are, digging your way up into this cyber-dungeon to discover the truth behind this structure and get outta there before the electronic feedback burns your neurons to ashes. GamePlay Action takes place in the V-Space, a virtual environment where ideal "memory locations" are perceived as platforms. Many enemies are to be faced in this environment, and the player must not always destroy them all to accomplish the task (which can be finding an exit as well as destroying a system or solve a puzzle or any of many others). The playable character can: * walk everywhere on a platform * jump from one platform to another of the same color * aim freely using a "scanner" (represented as a dashed colored line that changes color depending on the target) * shoot bullets of different power by using the fire key * shoot these bullet faster by holding the fire key pressed (this consumes ZNRG) * grab a bonus (power-up, shield generator or secondary weapon) by aiming on it (scanner line gets green) and pressing the fire key * shoot a secondary weapon (if available) by holding the fire key pressed for about a second (this consumes ZNRG) * use a shield for protection against other bullets (this consumes ZNRG) * "refuel" the ZNRG by pointing the scanner at a ZNRG source (takes time) All these resources must not be wasted by just shooting over and over all the time: this is not a winning strategy. The balance between attack and defense, the care in not wasting the ZNRG fot useless shots or shields, the continuous attention in keeping an eye on the character and an eye on the aiming scanner make DroneZ a unique gaming experience. In DroneZ, reflection is as important as reflexes and the sense of observation is as valuable as firepower. Many enemies can only be defeated by spotting their weak points and by identifying a strategy that exposes them. Sometimes the best idea is to escape and leave the enemy there alone...
