It looks like everyone is jumping onto the used games bandwagon, as Edge Online reports that
Best Buy is entering the used games market. They'll be installing kiosks at several of their Austin and Dallas locations in the state of Texas that will scan a game in and spit a gift card out worth that game's value. In addition to accepting used games, they will also be selling the products to see how sales fare compared to new game sales.
This isn't Best Buy's first step into testing used games, as a few years ago they tried to follow the GameStop model of the cashier accepting games and putting them on the shelf. It is possible that the kiosk method may save more time and effort for a store as large as Best Buy, or they are adjusting their strategy based on customer feedback. What is certain is that it is no surprise such a corporation is looking to try, as traditionally selling video games yields little in the way of profit without selling used titles.
