The Tale of Elysaria.
The Gods looked down upon the Earth and were angry.
They saw weapons of mass destruction, greed, hatred and envy. The knowledge they had imparted to Mankind was no longer being used for good, but for personal, and national, gain. Men and women in one country starved, whilst others lived in luxury.
Mankind had lead an easy life on Earth. This is no longer true. The 'punishment' of the Gods is threefold:
1) Man is no longer top of the food chain. Not only has Life on Earth been changed, Man must now fight for survival against enemies who can wield powerful magics which Man has been been denied access to by the Gods.
2) All sources and stores of knowledge have been destroyed. Libraries, computers, books - such things no longer exist. Man must recompile the 'Book of Knowledge.' Only through doing this will the powers needed to wield the Art of Magic be granted by the Gods.
3) The Geography of Earth is no longer one we all recognise. Food is a precious resource, and one well worth fighting over. Man must learn to navigate and survive alone.
