Consoles up for price cuts We have heard a lot in the past week how consoles, mainly the Playstation 2 and Xbox are not doing too good right now and that sales are falling. As what is probably a prediction leading from this information Reuters is reporting a possible console price cut. This is good news for us as if one console maker makes price cuts the rest usualy follow on to do the same. Sony is due soon to release a new PS2 designed console with a hard disk in Japan, which is when I assume this price drop might come into place with the "new" PS2 taking the throne. DirectX Music Flaw Microsoft has warned of a critical flaw in its DirectX multimedia software that could allow a hacker take control of a PC via a music file. The company has warned that buffer overruns are possible due to two flaws in its DirectShow software, part of DirectX. DirectShow handles sound and video, and the flaw can be exploited by either sending a specially prepared Midi file as an email attachment, or by embedding it in a web page. A patched has been released only for NT 4 so far which is a little odd since Microsoft don't support NT anymore officaly. A cumulative patch has also been issued for SQL Server version 7 and above. Vice City Stunts GTA is an ok game if you play it mission by mission but what most people buy it for is to muck about and do silly tricks and stunts about the city. Well for your entertainment clan Enemy have made a video with some pretty amazing stunts that can be done in the game. Don't try this at home. Thanks: EvilAvatar. Finally guys don't forget, the new Phantom "console" thats coming out, the first pictures appear online this weekend so check it out at http://www.phantom.net and see if it's worth all the fuss! Thats it for this week, if there is any major updates I will be around tommorow, if not catch you all monday, - Mark Tritschler Wrestler Maxx Payne Sues Take Two, 3DREALMS After Mark signed off for tonight, some brand new and noteworthy news came in – Yahoo reports that an American pro wrestler that uses the pseudonym “Maxx Payne” is suing Rockstar Games Inc., 3D Realms Entertainment, Gathering of Developers and Remedy Entertainment Ltd for using “his” name in commercial games. The total that he wants from them in restitutions is $10,000,000. So can we expect to see Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne to come out under a different name? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Press Release Pain Not really news, but Eurogamer has posted an article dealing with the press releases that publishers send out to news sites, like ours. The article is very funny, and sadly 100% true. Here's an excerpt: Low Thing Development Managing Supervisor Director, Straddle Von Nob, commented: "I've always wanted to work on a game which involves shooting waves of unexciting aliens with amazing artificial intelligence and so when Low Thing offered me a job title longer than my willy I jumped at the opportunity. I'm sure gamers will react strongly and probably contemptuously when we decide to can the GameCube version and fire 87 staff days after we've told everybody it's been released." Enjoy! - Dennis S.
