StarWraith 3D Games has released an updated demo of Star Wraith 3: Shadows of Orion, giving you another opportunity to try out this 3D space combat sim. This new release (v1.5) adds a new cinematic-style intro, fixes the 'team number' bug in Team vs Team multiplayer mode, improves player join system, improves music, and more. Thanks: 3DGamers. • Star Wraith v1.5 Demo (8.8 MB)
  • 1.5 includes the following fixes/improvements: - New cinematic-style intro added including much better music and cut scene (now available in demo also). - Menu music changed to more SW1 style vocal epic theme. - Players can now import a starfighter of their own design in X or 3DS model format (replaces the Quasar's slot offering 6 secondary weapon hardpoints and good maneuverability). - Players destroyed in multiplayer games now receive identifier message for which player got them. - Joystick button mapping menu now joined with main control configuration menu for easier access. - Game documentation now includes ship and weapon technology database. - Team vs Team multiplayer mode team number bug fixed. - Menu music no longer restarts after exiting Stats menu or Tech Database menu. - Incorrect player fighter position in multiplayer weapon loadout menu fixed. - Missiles now have their yield rating in parenthesis in the loadout menu. - Improved player join system (much lower chance of lost gamestate packets). The new music is pretty powerful with a full range of audio (lots of bass), so I hope you have a good sound system attached to your computer! To use the new import feature, you'll need to place your 3D model in the game's directory and label it either FIGHTI.X or FIGHTI.3DS, it may also need to be scaled and rotated to adapt to the game's world scale system and default direction. Be sure to include the model's texture media in the same directory as well. If this is a feature players would like to see developed more, then adding models to the current roster may be made possible along with custom weapon/maneuverability/engine settings. Also, keep in mind other players won't be able to see your custom fighter in multiplayer games unless they install the same model into their copy of the game.
