"Good News Everyone": Futurama the game is here!
Put Fry, Leela, Bender and Dr Zoidberg through their 31st Century paces this summer when Matt Groening's EMMY award winning cartoon hits 21st Century Consoles.
Good news everyone...Futurama the game is here! Futurama is a comprehensive 3rd-person platform shooter, which combines the humour, character development and innovation of the highly popular & award winning TV Show, with the best in platform game play & strategy:
* Four playable characters: Fry, Bender, Leela and Dr Zoidberg each with special moves to master
* 21 fantastic levels, both from the show and original environments
* 3 boss levels
* Uniquely freakish enemies unique to Futurama
* Puzzles and secrets galore
* Variety of combat methods including shoot 'em up, beat 'em up and "Bender" 'em up!
The game begins when Professor Farnsworth sells Planet Express to the evil businesswoman Mom. She now owns over fifty percent of the Earth, making her the supreme ruler. Your goal is to prevent Mom from Universal domination by taking the Planet Express Crew back in time to stop the deal from going ahead and show her "who's the daddy." Get it wrong and Bender's shiny metal arse is for the eternal scrap heap!
The terminally inept Fry, robo-porn reading Bender and feisty cyclops Leela must be guided through familiar scenes from the show: Planet Express, the Red Light District, New New York, and a host of new environments. Nurture their unique skills (yes even Fry has them - he can shoot fat guns), master their power ups and complete their tasks to lead them to victory against Mom and her 'hover-bot death troopers'.
Gameplay and detailing have been developed in conjunction with Matt Groening to ensure an authentic Futurama experience. Cell shaded characters and original voice actors have been used throughout. The game's storyline has been written by series writer J. Stewart Burns, who won an EMMY for scripting the classic Futurama episode, Roswell That Ends Well. Gamers will be treated to about 25 minutes of footage in total, essentially comprising a brand new episode of Futurama.
Matt Groening, series creator, said, "Futurama's sci-fi themes fit perfectly with sophisticated video game technology, helping you imagine what it would be like to be alive in the 31st Century. It involves blasting a lot of aliens."
Futurama will be released on the Sony PlayStation®2 and Microsoft Xbox in August. The Nintendo GameCube version will follow later in the year.
