In a surprise move, Atari has released a time-crippled "demo" version of Greyhawk: The Temple of Elemental Evil, offering you to play up to six hours of this recently released Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition RPG, developed by Troika Games. The reason for this massive download is that after purchasing a key online for $49,95, the game converts itself into the full version - with no further downloads needed. UPDATE: Due to a request from Atari the demo has been pulled, due to an exclusive deal with Kazaa. On a positive note, we should have an actual demo of the game available in another day or so - it'll be much smaller - about 200mb. :)

If the AutoPlay screen does not automatically appear after inserting the Temple of Elemental Evil CD Install Disc into your CD-ROM drive, follow these steps: 1. Close all running programs. 2. Ensure that the Temple of Elemental Evil CD Install Disc is in your CD-ROM drive. 3. Double-click My Computer on your desktop. 4. Double-click the CD-ROM icon. 5. Double-click on the Setup.exe icon to launch the installer. 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to launch the game. After installing the game, you will be offered the choice to view the readme or play the game. The readme is a text file, which lists additions to the manual since printing. Optimizing Gameplay ------------------- < developer insert comments > Manual Errata ------------- Here is a list of changes made to the game after the manual went to the printer: Right-clicking your mouse will cancel your currently selected action, such as from the radial menu, or when setting waypoints, or casting spells. Similarly to how lock picks affect the Open Lock skill, bardic instruments affect the Perform skill as used by bards. If a bard performs without an instrument, he suffers a -2 penalty to his Perform skill. Using a mundane instrument will negate this penalty, and a magical instrument will actually grant a bonus. Item creation can only be performed in safe areas, i.e. where the rest icon is green. Furthermore, time does not pass during item creation. It occurs instantly. The spell Summon Swarm has been removed. Weapon Finesse is using 3.0 rules rather than 3.5. In other words, Weapon Finesse is purchased for each weapon, rather than once for all weapons. Most metamagic feats can only be added to a spell once, i.e. you cannot Empower a spell twice. The exception to this rule is Heighten Spell. Every time you add this feat, the effective spell level goes up by 1. Experience drain does not cause level loss. If you lose enough experience points to lose a level, you retain the level but still have to regain the lost experience points. Bags and other portable container items have been removed from the game. This means each player character has only one inventory screen, and the vertical tabs on the left hand side of the inventory grid (mentioned in the manual on page 20) have been removed. All crafted wands have 20 charges instead of 50. Extra Functionality -------------------- Instruction Manual ------------------ Included on this product's game disc is an electronic version of the game's Instruction Manual in .pdf format, Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 (which enables you to view the manual in .pdf format), and an Install Guide file explaining how to access and use these features. Please refer to the Install Guide file by clicking on the Start button on your Windows(r) taskbar and then selecting Programs > Atari > Temple of Elemental Evil > Install Guide (or the location you selected in your Start Menu during installation).
