UK Channel 4's Countdown was the first programme screened on the channel, and it has been successful ever since. This is an effort to capture the true essence of Count Down in a form suitable for the Palm. You play against your toy in the standard Word and Numbers games, compete at speed on the Conundrum and have to listen to Whitely's jibes and Carol's arrogance. It's almost like you're there! It should be noted that this game is in no way affiliated with the show, making it an ideal stage for unusual and sometimes sarcastic humour. The graphics are flash (in that they require a good colour display) and some of the processing is intense, so it is geared towards higher-end devices. It was written and tested on a Tungsten|C, but it may work on other devices. It includes a large 900K dictionary of words, meaning even your odd (but correct) spelling of 'Whimsical' should get through. The game to download here is complete, but does not include solver mode and won't allow individual parts of the game to be played at will. $5 isn't much. Give it a go.
