Dino Crisis (c) Capcom
After capcoms continuos success with the Resident Evil Trilogy they turned to a new storyline incorporating the same engine and visuals as used in Resident Evil. In Dino Crisis you play agent Regina sent to Ibis Island to rescue a professor who was meant to of died during an experiment of "Pure Energy". But surprisingly the experiments has bridged a gap between the real world and the Jurassic period (hence all the dinosaurs). I must say I previously bought this game for the PSX after buying a few of the Resident Games and I thought it was brilliant, with good action sequences and puzzles that were hard but not to hard. Although the plot as been said and done before with the "Jurassic Park" era its still a decent well thought plot but you may get lost in some in depth scenes. If you've never played any of the Resident games (god help you) then you may need time to adjust to the controls which can be tricky at some points. The puzzles start of hard with some simple decryption but get harder as most do when you progress further into the game, it may take some time to decrypt some of the later passwords.
Graphics: 6/10 Graphics were good in some places but like most games that use this engine resolution can not go higher then 640x480. But expect better scenes and graphics then those used on the PSX version of this game.
Sound: 7/10 As with most games of this genre sound and atmosphere makes the game. This is no different with dino crisis due to the camera angles all you can hear is footsteps and growls from dinosaurs add this to a tense eery sound and you might need some toilet paper.
Gameplay: 8/10 After playing the PSX game I thought that this would be an exact duplicate but they have included a extra small game called "Operation Wipeout" which can also be played on INET where you have allocated weapons and time to kill dinosaurs as well as making Regina wear a tight outfit. As the opening still says EXPECT gore and this is what the game delivers in every place it can.
