It contains the massive detail and real-time strategy of AOE and also the sweeping epic timelines of Civilization. The premise is simple: mould a simple race of Stone Age brutes though the ages to become the most powerful race off all. There are no changes to the modes of play, single games, campaigns and multi-player elements still remain. Additions come in the form of two new races (Korea and Japan), three new camp gains, Pacific WWII, a space conflict based epoch and the glaring omission from the original game, a Roman campaign. This pack also promises enhanced graphics and sound. The new campaigns are entertaining but limited, with the Roman wars being the most valued and the space conflict coming across as a naval campaign. The two new nations are useful in multi-player situations, but only further down the ages with some of the newer unit types such as the Cyber Ninja. If you're an Empire Earth nut then this is for you, otherwise the excellent original has enough features and editing tools to keep you going for a while yet. --Laurent S Hall
