When you think of two-player video games, you generally think of a highly competitive face-off where only one can be left standing. Kuri Kuri Mix, however, has a different focus. While most multiplayer games require you to stand against your human counterpart, here you need to cooperate and work alongside your colleague to stand any chance of success. The set up is simple. The screen splits vertically into two independent playing areas, one player taking each side. The idea is then to guide two rabbits through to their goal. Only problem is, sometimes the rabbit on the right can only continue if the one of the left does something to remove an obstacle and vice versa. Maybe one player has access to a lever to pull down a drawbridge or is able to push some logs across to help get over some water. Either way, the two characters need to work together. And should you succumb to any of the obstacles, you lose time. You can pick up clocks along the way to boost the timer but fail to make your goal in the allotted seconds and it's back to the beginning for the bunnies. Kuri Kuri Mix can be played in versus mode, as well as the fiddly single-player game (where one person controls both rabbits) but, hugely enjoyable as the versus mode is, it's in the cooperative mode that the real challenge lies. For under the cute and fluffy exterior lies a tricky, occasionally punishing arcade adventure. As one of the most unusual two-player challenges on the PS2, it's certainly worth seeking out. --Simon Brew
