Vicious Cycle Software today announced that the new version of its game development engine, Vicious Engine 2 (Ve2), will be used for the first time in Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3. Eat Lead is a third-person shooter with a sense of humor featuring all of the next-generation improvements to Ve2’s rendering and animation systems, including overhauled lighting and shader technology, advanced audio and AI and enhanced physics and path finding. The engine will be widely available to developers in 2008, but the company is also currently looking for early adopters who are interested in evaluating Ve2. Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is set to be released on March 30th.

Electronic Arts and Crytek have announced that Crysis Wars, the new multiplayer suite for Crytek's Crysis franchise and part of the Crysis Warhead package, will be available for free from Friday, October 10th through Sunday, October 12th. Crysis Wars includes three diverse multiplayer modes (InstantAction, TeamInstantAction and PowerStruggle), 21 maps ranging from large battlefields to smaller, more intimate battlegrounds with a diverse array of settings ranging from beaches to graveyards, as well as all weapons and vehicles released within the Crysis Universe. Starting on Monday, October 6th, gamers can take advantage of this offer by registering online at MyCrysis. After registration, those who sign up will be emailed a unique activation key that will allow them to immediately play Crysis Wars on LAN for the entire week and will allow them to play on Gamespy servers from October 10th at 11:00 AM PT to October 12th at 11:59 PM. Wicked Interactive today announced that the server for Priston Tale has officially moved and is now being hosted at SubaGames. The new website is now available here. The server move applies only to the English version of the game and players who already have a Priston Tale account will automatically be added to SubaGames. Japanese players are unaffected by the move.

Activision has released a playable demo of Quantum of Solace, allowing you to try out this game based on the upcoming James Bond movie with the same title. Electronic Arts today announced that Dead Space has been scored by Jason Graves, in association with Rod Abernethy and under the direction of EA Redwood Shores studio. The score features over three hours of music recorded during two different recording sessions. In the first session Graves conducted sixty musicians of the Northwest Sinfonia Orchestra at the Bastyr Chapel in Seattle, and a year later Graves conducted sixty players of the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and twenty voice choir at the Skywalker Sound Scoring Stage. The official soundtrack will be available for purchase via EATRAX on October 14th.
